The Wasps (6-4, 2-2) entered VWC's Jane P. Batten Center with the nation's fourth-highest scoring offense, but could not match the consistent scoring pace of the host Marlins (10-2, 5-0), who posted the highest number of points in program history. The Marlins hit a sizzling 69.7% of their field goals, another program record, en route to topping the former scoring record of 122 points posted against Eastern Mennonite University in 1980.
VWC hit 46 field goals overall, the fourth highest total in program history, and padded the score with a 33-of-45 showing from the free throw lines. Both the freebies made and attempts were the second highest totals in program history.
The Marlins also helped themselves with 60 rebounds, the second highest total in program history, led by senior All-American Brandon Adair with 15. He also scored 17 points.
Junior Tyler Fantin talled 18 points and pulled in nine rebounds for the Marlins, junior D'Juan Tucker added 16 points, senior Thomas Sumpter tallied 14 and rookie Stephen Fields scored 11.
VWC entered the game as one of the top three-point shooting teams in the league, but attempted only five long-rangers against the Wasps and hit three. Emory & Henry launched 44 triples, but nailed only nine, including three from Shavar Bland.
Anthony Hairston, Lance Reasbeck and Bland all scored 11 points each for Emory & Henry.
