Tied at 12-to-12 with 14:04 remaining in the first half, Northwestern strung together an 18-0 run over the next 5 minutes as the Eagles lead 30-to-12 with just over 9 minutes left in the period. Northwestern increased their advantage to as many as 26 points in the first period before taking a 51-24 lead into the locker room at the midway point. The second half witnessed Northwestern remaining in control, leading by as many as 30 points while not allowing Crown College to get any closer than 18 points. Cooling down sharply to just 25.0 percent shooting from the field in the second half, Northwestern finished the game hitting 29-of-65 (44.6%) from the floor and just 9-of-22 from the free throw line. The Eagles struggles at the charity stripe (40.9%) marked a season low. Crown College finished the night connecting on 24-of-56 (42.9%) from the floor overall and 5-of-20 (25.0%) from three-point range. The Storm went to the free throw line on just three occasions, making all three attempts.
Daniel Hanson finished with a game-high 18 points, netting 6-of-10 from the field to highlight the Northwestern box score. He also pulled down 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Sophomore guard Steve Discher (Andover, Minn.) contributed 15 points and 5 rebounds, while junior Mike Anderstrom (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) owned 12 points and 9 boards, sinking 5-of-9 field goal attempts for the Eagles. Senior center Mitch Jones (McCloud, Calif.) was the lone Storm player to reach double-figures for points, leading Crown with 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Northwestern College will next take the court on Tuesday, December 12, traveling to local rival North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference showdown.
