ST. PAUL, Minn. — January 3, 2007 - Brad Liddell scored 28 points and Abe Woldeslassie had 26 points and 10 assists to lead Macalester past Concordia in St. Paul for its first MIAC win of the season. Macalester goes to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the MIAC. Concordia drops to 0-9 on the year, 0-4 in league play.

Head coach Curt Kietzer picks up his 99th coaching victory at Macalester and goes for No. 100 Saturday (Jan. 6) when the Scots host Augsburg.

Macalester knocked down 21 three-pointers at a 55% clip, with Liddell, Woleslassie and Brian Ranwick combining to go 17-for-25 from behind the three-point line. Ranwick finished with 12 points. The red-hot Liddell has gone 8-for-12 from three-point range in each of the last two games. He finished with a career-high 30 last weekend in an overtime win over Viterbo. On the season, Woldeslassie is shooting 55% on treys (24-for-44) and Liddell is at 47% (40-for-85).

Concordia was led by Luke Linz with 27 poins on an 11-for-16 shooting effort. Anthony Boike added 16 off the bench.

Each team shot well in the opening half. The Cobs shot 61% and the Scots 55% as Mac took a 47-41 lead into halftime. Macalester kept shooting well in the second half, especially on three-pointers, while Concordia cooled off enough for the Scots to pull away. Mac's lead reached double figures early in the second half and reached 20 midway through the period following a decisive 18-6 Macalester run. The lead reached 29 points with four minutes left.
