DES MOINES, Iowa — Senior Mike Kilburg scored 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the visiting Kohawks to their fifth straight win of the season over Grand View 79-66 Tuesday night. It was Kilburg’s fourth straight game scoring in double figures and his third 20 plus point performance of the season.

Kilburg scored the first six points of the game for Coe and had the assist on the eighth point as Coe picked up the win in their first trip outside the Cedar Rapids city limits this year.

“Mike took what the defense allowed him tonight and our kids did a great job of finding him. He’s in a great rhythm right now,” said head coach Pat Juckem.

Freshman Ross Timmermans punched in a career-high 17 points as a season-high four Kohawks scored in double figures. Coming into the game, Timmermans was 2-6 from three point range but got hot in the second half, hitting five of seven three pointers.

“Ross had some nice opportunities within our offense tonight. He’s got a shooter’s mentality and he stepped up and hit some big shots,” said Juckem.

The Dunkerton duo was up to their old tricks as juniors Kyle Kuenstling and Brian Brungard finished with 15 and 11 points respectively. Kuenstling, who had 11 points in the first half, left the game half way through the second half with five fouls.

The Kohawks will return to action Saturday night as they travel to Rock Island, Ill. to take on 11th ranked Augustana. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
