In the biggest game of the season thus far, the hometown kid came through. Junior Rob Hanna scored a career high 24 points, shooting 10-12 from the field. The Linn-Mar prep nailed four of five three point shots as well.
Senior Mike Kilburg played a season-high 35 minutes and put everyone one of them to use as he came away with 20 points and six rebounds. He also had a team high three steals and a block.
After trailing 16-6 five minutes into the game, the Kohawks settled down and went on a 29-12 run over the next 12 minutes. Trailing by two at halftime, Coe opened the second half with 17-10 run.
After Coe took a 79-75 lead with 1:15 to play, the Knights scored four unanswered to send the game to overtime, including a three point basket by Lee Nelson from five feet beyond the line.
Coe opened a 90-83 lead in overtime, but gave up an 8-2 run by Wartburg to end the game.
The Kohawks will have the week off before heading to Des Moines for a non-conference game with Grand View. The game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
