Indianola, Iowa — Ashley Katch blocked 10 shots in a game for the third time this season as No. 22/25 Simpson (13-3, 5-2 IIAC) defeated Coe 81-53 Jan. 17 in Indianola. Katch, Division III’s leading shot blocker (5.0 bpg), blocked nine shots in the first half as Simpson took a 41-26 into the break. She got her 10th block, tying her own school record, early on in the second half, but was forced to the bench due to foul trouble. Katch scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds. The 6-2 junior center added two steals.

Carlie Beals was 4-of-5 from three-point range on her way to a team high 14 points. Beals was the only Simpson player to score in double figures as 13-of-15 Storm players scored at least one point. Simpson forced 33 Kohawk turnovers and made 19 steals.

Coe was led by Shanon Nelson who scored 14 points and had seven rebounds. Amber Lindemann scored 12 while Eric Langland had 11 for the Kohawks.

Simpson is next in action Saturday when the Storm host Cornell College in a 2 p.m. tip.
