Simpson would close the BV lead to eight early on in the second half, but the Beavers responded with another run, this time, BV outscored the Storm 15-5 over a 4+ minute span to take a 57-39 lead. Simpson mounted another charge, chipping away at the lead, working down the score to 60-49 with 9:48 remaining. Andre Wagner responded for the Beavers, converting a three-pointer for a 14-point BV lead. The Storm would not get any closer than 12 down the stretch.
Kyle Stribe, Andre Wagner, and Brian Fogelman each led the Beavers as trio each posted 12 points. Jason Parkinson was Simpson’s leading scorer with 18 points. The 6-4 guard shot 7-for-13 from the field. Ryan Hittenmiller had a double-double for the Storm. Hittenmiller scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Brennen Tubaugh added 10 for the Storm. Buena Vista limited Simpson to 34.5% shooting (20-of-58) for the game.
Simpson resumes IIAC play Saturday at Dubuque in a 4 p.m. tip-off.
