Connecticut College 70, Framingham State 58

Indianola, Iowa — Simpson (10-5, 3-3 IIAC) used a 13-0 second half run to defeat Central (6-8, 3-3 IIAC) 83-65 in Iowa Conference men’s basketball play Jan. 13 in Pella. The Storm led 50-48 with 12:20 remaining in the second half before using the run to take a 63-48 lead. Jason Parkinson scored five of his team high 15 points during the 3+ minute stretch. Simpson shot 58.1% (18-of-31) from the field in the second half. The Storm forced 22 Central turnovers and made 14 steals.

Simpson used a balanced scoring attack with four of the five Storm starters scoring in double figures, led by Parkinson. Senior Brett Cermak (Norwalk, Iowa, Norwalk H.S.) scored a career high 13 points. Cermak was 5-for-5 from the field. He also added four assists, three steals, and three rebounds. Jason Soppe scored 12 points while Ryan Hittenmiller had 11. Tim Dunlavy added 10 coming off the bench for Simpson.

Central was led by Clint Driftmeir who had a game high 19 points. The Storm turned up the defense on the 6-10 center in the second half, limiting the big man to only six points in the closing frame. Zak Clark had 15 (all from three-point range) while Keith Pedersen had 10 for the Dutch.
