The Blue Jays (3-0) built a 17-point lead in the first half and withstood a Central rally to lead at intermission 36-29. Central (1-2) would not go away and took its first lead with under four minutes remaining. With over two minutes remaining, Jason Warncke made one-of-two free throws, putting Westminster on top 62-61. Cade House scored on an assist from Dygert to give Westminster a 64-61 advantage with 45 seconds left in the game. A.J. Meyer hit a three pointer for Central to tie the score for the sixth time in the half, 64-64, setting the stage for Davis’ game-winning basket.
Davis led Westminster with 18 points and Warncke finished with nine points. Central’s Clint Driftmier led all scorers with 22 points and David Poetting finished with 15 points.
