Loras stormed out of the gate and took a large lead that swelled to as much as 20 points, 36-16, on hot shooting from beyond the three-point line. The Duhawks connected on 56.3% (9-16) of their shots from long-range in the first half to claim a 40-29 halftime advantage.
Buena Vista spent the entire second half clawing away at the Loras lead. Rahn Franklin finally brought the Beavers to within one point, 70-69, when he drained a three-pointer with 43 seconds remaining. Loras made five free throws down the stretch and Buena Vista could not get a shot to fall as it dropped its second straight game.
Kyle White led a balanced Loras attack with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. The Duhawks had six players that scored at least eight points each.
Andre Wagner guided Buena Vista with 16 points. Brian Fogleman registered 13 points, nine rebounds, and a career-high four assists. Franklin also scored 13 for the Beavers.
Buena Vista dips to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the IIAC with the loss. Loras improves to 9-5 and 5-0.
The Beavers will travel to Cedar Falls on Saturday to face Wartburg College, which is playing its home games this season at West Gym on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.
