Unfortunately the second half turned out to be a whole new ballgame as the roles reversed. UD shot 33% in the second half as compared to the 54% clip in the first 20 minutes.
Senior guard Kristy “Kip” Malone led the UD offense with 18 points. She shot 7-11 from the field and hit 4-5 three pointers. 15 of her points came in the first half as UD rolled to a comfortable 9 point lead at the break.
Ana Castillo registered her team high 8th double-double of the season. The senior forward scored 13 points and hauled down 11 rebounds.
Ericka Baker (20), Jenna Harris (16), and Leslie Leatherwood (11) also reached double figures in points for the victorious Comets. Harris also added 15 rebounds.
Next up for the 9-10 Lady Crusaders is the 3-day UD Independent Classic starting Friday, February 2. UD faces the UC-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs at 5:00pm.
