East Texas Baptist 80, Wiley 65

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — Capital University's women's basketball team rallied from an 11-2 deficit to win its 10th straight contest, defeating Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Muskingum College 79-63 Saturday in New Concord and moving into a first place tie in the OAC.

The Crusaders (16-4, 12-2 OAC)went on a 21-3 after trailing by nine early. Sophomore forward Caitlin Elsass scored eight points in the run and guard Caitlin Graessle added seven more, putting Capital ahead 23-14 at the 10:33 mark in the first half. Graessle hit a total of four three-pointers in the first half and scored 16 of her team-high 18 points in the frame.

After leading 47-29 at halftime, Capital saw its lead trimmed to nine at 54-45 when Tiffany Youel hit a three-pointer. The Crusaders went on a 10-2 run, capped off by a three-pointer from freshman guard Mackenzi Thompson to push its lead back to 64-47 with 11:46 left, and the Crusaders would lead by as many as 25 in the second half.

Elsass finished with 16 points and six rebounds, senior guard Ralphie Beal added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists off the bench, and freshman guard Kristen Richardson had 10 points and six rebounds. Capital held a 37-30 edge in rebounding and shot 48.4 percent from the floor.

Youel led the Muskies (5-16, 3-11 OAC) with 20 points, Laura Gibson added 14, Elizabeth Guinsler had 11 and Leah Miller scored 10. Muskingum shot just 12-of-32 (37.5 percent) from the field in the first half and attempted just three free throws in the contest.
