With its win, B-W is now 7-2 overall while Linfield falls to 4-5 overall with its loss.
In addition to Davis, Yellow Jacket freshman guard Louis Tumblin scored 11 points and sophomore guard Dennis Santiago had 10 points and seven rebounds. En route to his game-high 21 markers, Davis canned eight-of-13 shots from the floor and five-of-nine foul shots. His career-high 18 rebounds eclipses his previous best of 17 that he had a year ago in a 113-108 double overtime upset of then No.1-ranked The College of Wooster. Linfield was led by senior forward Evan Timperly with 16 points and junor guard Steve Taylor had 10.
Keys to the Yellow Jacket victory were holding Linfield to just 30.8 percent field goal shooting (20-of-65). The Yellow Jackets led at halftime, 34-27 and outscored Linfield in the second stanza, 35-34.
With his 21 points today, Davis now has 1,825 career points and is sixth on the all-time Yellow Jacket scoring chart. He needs 16 more points to surpass Bob Walters (1959-63) to move into the Top-Five all-time. Davis now also has 788 career rebounds and a school career-record 204 blocked shots, including three today versus Linfield.
The B-W men will next play tomorrow, Thursday, December 28 against the winner of the Colorado College versus Edgewood (Wisc.) University game at 4:00 p.m. M.S.T.
