Hamilton 78, Utica 68

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Capital University claimed a share of its ninth Ohio Athletic Conference men basketball regular season title and the top seed in next week's OAC Tournament with a 77-69 victory over Heidelberg College at The Capital Center.

Capital now 16-7 overall sit at 13-4 in the OAC a game ahead of John Carroll University, 81-77 losers at Baldwin-Wallace College, with a game remaining. Heidelberg falls to 13-11 overall and 9-8 in the OAC.

The Crusaders started the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back as they led by 14 at the break, 43-29, then stretched that lead to as many as 17 in the second half before the 79-67 final.

Junior forward Steve Kyser had 19 points to lead four Capital players in double figures. Sophomores in Nate Stahl, Ryan Wood and each had 13, 11 and 10 respectively as the other Crusaders in double digits.

Shawn Shriver had a game-high 23 points to lead Heidelberg.
