Knox spotted Blackburn a 14-0 lead to open the game. Blackburn hit six of its first eight shots from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers, in the opening 3:43. Knox meanwhile missed its first six shots and turned the ball over three times in falling behind early. Kate Moon’s jumper finally put the Prairie Fire on the board four minutes into the game.
A 9-0 Knox run pulled the Prairie Fire to within 20-18 and the game was finally knotted at 22-22. Andie Allison’s layup gave Knox its first lead at 24-22 and Erin Navolio’s triple at the halftime buzzer gave Knox a 27-25 lead.
The second half started like the first with Blackburn scoring the first eight points after the break. Blackburn took a seven point lead at 36-29 before Knox rallied. Two Tracy Herring free throws and a Moon jump shot gave Knox a 45-43 lead. The Prairie Fire never trailed the rest of the way.
Erin Navolio and Lindsay Fondow each scored 10 points to lead Knox. Herring and Andie Allison each scored eight and Jenna Finley netted seven. Allison grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. Meghan Polston led Blackburn with 24 points.
