MacMurray came out firing, hitting the first two shots of the game to take a 5-0 lead. Knox scored seven consecutive points capped by a Jenna Finley 3-pointer to take a 7-5 lead. Marija Jakovljevic hit from beyond the arc to give the Prairie Fire the lead for good at 10-7. Knox closed the half on a 7-0 run to take a 30-15 lead into the break. MacMurray shot only 20 percent (7-35) in the opening 20 minutes. Knox connected on 11-of-25 (44 percent) from the field.
MacMurray cut the lead to 44-38 with 4:37 to play but Knox responded with a 9-0 run to regain control. The Prairie Fire defense also forced 24 MacMurray turnovers in the win.
Knox was led by its two junior co-captains. Andie Allison paced the Prairie Fire with 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Finley finished with 12 points and a team-high nine boards. Kate Moon came off the bench to finish with seven points and six rebounds. Tracy Herring dropped in six points.
