BROWNWOOD, Texas — The #2 Howard Payne Lady Jackets use a second run to defeat #19 DeSales University 69-42 to advance to the Elite 8 for the first time in school history in the Brownwood Coliseum Friday night. Howard Payne will take on #1 Hope College Saturday at 7:00 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum

The Lady Jackets outscored DeSales 46-29, shooting 63.6% in the second half. DeSales was held to just 32% shooting in the game and turned the ball over 24 times.

It was close first half with a 10-10 tie with 7:35 on the clock. Howard Payne then went on a 13-3 run to secure a 23-13 halftime advantage.

Great inside play by HPU center Stacey Blalock and guard play from Meia Daniels help the Lady Jackets extended their lead in the second. Howard Payne led by as much as 32 in the game, 62-30 on a Mionca Hall jumper with 5:48 to play.

Howard Payne’s Stacey Blalock led with a game high 23 points and was 8 of 8 from the free-throw line. Meia Daniels finished with 21 points and 3 steals. Hope Hohertz had a game high 8 rebounds.

DeSales was led by LeighAnn Burke with 14 points and 4 steals, she was 4 of 7 from behind the arc.

The Lady went on to win 69-42 to improve to 30-0 on the season, while DeSales finishes their season at 26-4.

Howard Payne will take on Hope College on Saturday at 7:00 pm for a chance to go to the 2008 NCAA III Final Four.
