UTICA, N.Y. — The Plattsburgh State men's basketball team (23-2 overall), ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division III and first in the East Region, finished with a perfect 16-0 record in the State University of New York Athletic Conference after defeating the host SUNYIT Wildcats, 86-75, on Saturday at the Campus Center. SUNYIT ended its season at 7-18 overall and 2-14 in the conference. No previous Plattsburgh team had ever won 16 conference games in a season.

Anthony Williams led four Plattsburgh scorers in double figures with a game-high 27 points, followed by Ricky Rider with a career-high 19 on 7-of-9 shooting, Travis Gorham with 17 and Chris Ruiz had 12 off the bench. Gorham completed a double-double with a game-best 15 rebounds.

SUNYIT's Devon Moore had a double-double of his own with 22 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three steals. Ajani Edwards added 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, and Dave Golembiowski chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds.

Plattsburgh took a 41-33 lead at the intermission by making more 3-pointers (6 to 0) and free throws (7-3) than SUNYIT, which had one more field goal (15-14). The Cardinals never trailed in the game, led by as many as 19 points and held a double-digit lead for the last 15 minutes of the second half.
