GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA — Immaculata erased a 25-point halftime deficit to rally and defeat Gwynedd-Mercy, 81-73, Monday night in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Game at the Griffin Complex.

The Griffins (13-7, 6-5 PAC) led by as much as 46-18 late in the first half, shooting over 69% (20-of-29), and went into the locker room up 49-24. But the league-leading Macs (14-5, 9-1 PAC) answered, opening the second half on a 21-8 run over the first six minutes to cut the lead to just 11.

Immaculata’s Rob Jones then tied it at 63-63 apiece with 6:59 left as his layup after a steal and later a free throw on the next possession from Robert Jones gave IU their first lead since four minutes into the contest.

An off-balance jumper from the top of the key from Kyle Finklea followed by a bucket from Scott Marston put the Mighty Macs up 76-70 with 2:04 left.

Haven Wroten’s open layup inside with just over a minute remaining made it a four-point game (76-72), but the Griffins would not draw any closer as Immaculata would hit five of its six trips to the line to put the contest out of reach.

Wroten finished with 16 points while sophomore Matt Johnson led GM with 19, all of which came in the first half.

Jason Hyman led Immaculata with a game-high 22 points. Finklea scored all of his 19 points in the second frame while Marston chipped in 12. The loss snaps the Griffins' four-game win streak.
