Washington U. 83, Wartburg 71
ST. PAUL , Minn. — Senior All-American Tasha Rodgers had 29 points and eight steals and Washington University shot 66.1% from the field en route to an 83-71 victory over Wartburg in Saturday's NCAA Division III women's basketball sectional championship game.

The Bears (26-2) made 21 of 35 (60%) first half shots and sank 16 of 21 (76%) in the second half.

The Bears won their 18th consecutive NCAA tournament game over four seasons and will return to the national semifinals for the fourth season in a row. The Bears are 94-2 over the last four seasons.

Lendy Stuber had 10 points and 10 assists and Meg Sullivan added 10 points for the Bears.

Wartburg, which was trying to reach the Final Four for the first time in school history, had a 21-game winning streak halted and finished the season 26-5.

Brianne Schoonover had 16 points, Holly Mohs had 13 points and 12 rebounds, Lisa Rasmusson had 14 points and Molly Mason added 10 points for Wartburg. The Knights shot 46% from the field and stayed close by making 19-of-24 at the foul line.

Washington will play in the semifinals next Friday night in Danbury, Conn., vs. Emmanuel (28-2), a 74-70 overtime winner over NYU. Ohio Wesleyan (25-6) and Messiah (26-4) round out the Final Four. None of the four host teams of this weekend's sectional tournaments advanced.

Washington closed the first half with a 6-0 run to lead 43-38 at halftime. Wartburg used a 10-4 run to regain the lead 48-47 with 16:27 left. But the Bears' Meg Sullivan hit a 3-pointer for a 50-48 lead, and Wash U. never trailed again.

Rodgers made three consecutive baskets to cap an 18-7 run that built the game's biggest lead at 79-61 with 4:32 to play.

The five-player All-Tournament team consisted of Rodgers, Mohs, Schoonover, Missy Pederson of St. Thomas and Melissa Steward of Fontbonne.
