90, Penn State-Behrend 59 The Lady Jackets got off to a fast start in the game taking a quick 10-5 lead causing a timeout by the Lions. Behrend would then score a quick basket by Christine Charnock after the timeout only to see Defiance pull off three consecutive quick baskets off of turnovers pushing their lead to 16-7. Defiance College would lead by as many as 22 points in the first half as senior point guard Lea Barrera took control of the game scoring 24 points, and forcing turnover after turnover. Barrera outscored the Lions 24-21 by herself in the first half as the Lady Jackets took a 46-21 halftime lead. Defiance would keep their momentum going in the second half as their defensive pressure put the clamps on the Penn State-Behrend offense. The Behrend Lions would never get any closer than 22 points in the second half as the Lady Jackets tied a season high for points scored in game with 90. Barrera finished with a game-high 30 points to go along with her seven assists, three rebounds, and four steals for Defiance. Arin Gertsen finished with 12 points while Jen Wachtman and Renee Brickner finished with 11 apiece. Penn State-Behrend was led by Erin Phillips and Erica Mozdy who each finished with 12 points. With the win Defiance College improves to 23-4 on the season and remain undefeated at home this year as they picked up their 13th consecutive win and their 18th in a row dating back to last season. Penn State-Behrend ends the season at 18-9. |
