Centre 87, Thomas More 86
DANVILLE, Ky. — Freshman center Jennifer Patterson hit a putback on a third-chance shot at the buzzer as Centre nipped Thomas More 87-86 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Centre held a commanding 50-33 lead at the half, shooting a blistering 62.1% (18-for-29). The Lady Colonels (21-5) were 8-for-13 from the three-point range in the first half and appeared to be in the driver’s seat.

However, Thomas More (13-12) shot 54.1% from the field in the second half, including 5-for-10 from three-point range. The Saints took their only lead of the game with 15.3 seconds to go on a three-pointer by Ashley Will.

The Colonels’ Molly Alvey and Beth Johnson both missed on the final possession before Patterson’s rebound and putback won the game.

The schools are the only two Division III institutions in Kentucky.
