Viva Las Vegas: Recapping the 2017 Classic

Who attends the D3hoops.com Classic? Everybody! We've held the tournament for eight years and here are all the teams who have been to our tournament more than once. Men: Ramapo (seven times), Carroll, Hardin-Simmons and UW-Stevens Point (three times) and twice apiece for Colorado College, Gustavus Adolphus, Hanover, Pacific Lutheran, Skidmore, Wartburg, Whitman, Whitworth and Wisconsin Lutheran. Women: Carthage and Occidental three times, with twice apiece for Amherst, Coe, DeSales, La Verne, Simpson and St. Vincent. In all, 45 men's programs have come to the D3hoops.com Classic and 40 women's programs.

For the eighth year we welcomed teams from coast to coast to the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for three days of wall-to-wall basketball. Classic closes with Whitman win in instant classic No. 1 Whitman and No. 14 Ohio Wesleyan had a heavyweight battle that would have been the toast of any tournament, whether in December or March, while Augsburg registered an upset and UC Santa Cruz got out with a split on the final day of the 2017 D3hoops.com Classic.

D3hoops.com Classic: Blugolds, Cowboys close with wins UW-Eau Claire showed some of its young promise in a decisive win over Pacific Lutheran while the Hardin-Simmons showed they're ready to win now by handling Wheaton (Ill.). That and more from the final day of the 2016 D3hoops.com Classic.

D3hoops.com Classic: Salisbury heads home 0-2 Hardin-Simmons made its debut in emphatic fashion, sending Salisbury home 0-2, while UW-Eau Claire finished its sweep and Puget Sound escaped with an 2-0 mark in women's action on Day 2 in Las Vegas.

Ramapo tops Salisbury in unbeaten battle Ramapo made its case to enter the Top 25 rankings by beating No. 5 Salisbury while the NWC women's teams looked sharp in handling their IIAC opponents. Plus the Eau Claire men and Stevens women got back on track.

Day 2: Marietta wins the Hoopsville Classic Since it isn't a tournament, the Hoopsvile Classic technically doesn't have a winner. But Marietta was so impressive in demolishing No. 2 Christopher Newport that it's hard not to think of them as the best team coming out of this weekend in Owings Mills. Ryan Scott has more.

Day 1: Captains cruise past Point All-American Marcus Carter had a quiet night, but his teammates more than picked up the slack as Christopher Newport buried Stevens Point.
