Catholic wins championship;
Catholic (7-2), ranked No. 10 in Division III, was led by tournament most valuable player, sophomore forward Matt Hilleary, who scored 19 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor. Hilleary poured in seven of his points during Catholic's run to blow the game open and blocked three shots for the game while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Senior guard Pat Maloney had a career-high 11 assists. Hobart (3-2), which shot 30.5% from the floor and turned the ball over 20 times compared with six for Catholic, was led by sophomore forward Davidek Herron's 11 points and game-high 10 rebounds. In the consolation game, Plymouth State College rallied from a 64-60 deficit after senior forward and leading scorer Tony Martinez fouled out with 8 minutes, 2 seconds remaining to defeat Roger Williams University, 78-70. After baskets from sophomore guard Kenny Stewart and freshman center Ryan Chincoine tied the game, freshman forward Frankie Finklea hit a three-pointer with 5:51 remaining to give the Panthers the lead for good. Martinez, who finished with 24 points, was 10 of 14 from the floor. Stewart added 18 points, eight of them after Martinez left the game. Roger Williams (5-4) jumped out to a 43-38 lead at the half and extended it to 46-38 before turnovers and foul trouble helped the Panthers (5-5) get back into the game. Junior forward Jason Wiggins, who had 16 points in the first half, finished with 20 to lead Roger Williams. Plymouth State shot 3-for-12 from the foul line in the first half but went 14-for-24 in the second half. Roger Williams got 19 points from senior forward Michael Lynch and 14 from senior guard Andrew Provost. Senior forward Warren Ostler and Finklea tied for a game-high 11 rebounds. D3hoops.com
