D3hoops.com came under its current management at the beginning of the 1997-98 season, and we've seen a lot of players come and go over the years. Since we weren't around for most of the 1990s (and granted, neither was the World Wide Web), this is our first chance to do a real retrospective on the best players of the decade. It's from our first decade: 1997-98 to 2006-07. The All-Decade Team was compiled from D3hoops.com All-American teams and was the subject of much debate among the staff. First Team bios and stats What others say: "The whole package ... She hated to lose even at the most simple drill or competitive activity ... The combination was a coach’s dream. ... The double-clutch jump shots and reverse layups looked so easy."
Second Team bios and stats What others say: "The minute she walked onto campus she changed the face of the program ... She was a spectacular shooter and seemingly always in 'the zone' ... was able to succeed at such a high level of competition because she set the bar incredibly high for herself ... They complemented each other so well, and appreciated each other’s accomplishments."
Third Team bios and stats What others say: "She made everyone comfortable and at ease because she loved the game so much ... What I will remember most is her unwavering work ethic, competitiveness, and drive to succeed ... She had great hands and was the fastest post player I have ever coached. ... Single-handedly raised the bar of excellence in our program ... Athletic and a very good finisher around the basket."
Fourth Team bios and stats What others say: "Her quickness and athleticism, her ability to get a shot off quickly and effectively and her obvious love for the game of basketball ... Did whatever was needed for our team to be successful ... She led by example and was admired by everyone ... What set her apart was her tremendous defensive presence in the middle."
Honorable Mention bios and stats What others say: "She simply did not belong at our level of play. ... Did things on the floor that were unmatched by anyone playing Division III basketball at that time and since ... She never missed a game in four years and was the personification of tough ... Opponents had to adjust their game plans to defend someone of her stature and production."
